PROBLEM
While music festivals bring people together, crowds, overstimulation, and digital distractions often limit genuine connection, leaving little room to slow down, reconnect with nature, and be fully present.
RESEARCH
I chose Marymoor Park for its connection to the local community and natural landscape, scheduling it during Earth Week (April 20–22), culminating on Earth Day to celebrate nature and environmental awareness. I collected seasonal botanicals, including pink cosmos, blue forget-me-nots, yellow daisies, and ribbon grass. Using a handheld scanner and Adobe Photoshop, I transformed them into translucent, X-ray-like imagery, creating a visual identity rooted in nature, slowness, and presence. To extend the experience, I designed handmade earrings featuring real flowers from the park, offering guests a lasting, tangible connection to the festival.

SOLUTIONS
A festival designed to escape the noise, embrace nature, and rediscover the beauty of being present.

Envisioned as plantable seed-paper wristbands, each design features a day-specific botanical, connecting guests to the festival's natural identity. Rather than becoming waste, the wristbands can be planted after use, symbolizing renewal and a lasting connection to nature.

Each of Re:Ground's three days is represented by a distinct flower, pink cosmos, blue forget-me-nots, or yellow daisies, creating a nature-inspired visual system. Made from biodegradable, plantable seed paper, the passes can be planted after the festival, symbolizing renewal and growth.

Handcrafted with real flowers preserved in resin, each pair represents a different day of Re through its designated botanical. Given to guests as keepsakes, these earrings preserve a lasting connection to nature and the festival experience.

Designed to encourage digital disconnection, the Re phone lock keeps devices secured throughout the festival. Featuring delicate botanical imagery and the message “Let the moment hold you,” it invites guests to step away from their screens and fully embrace the present.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
The most meaningful experiences don't compete for our attention. They give us a reason to be present.
Designing Beyond the Visual
Re:Ground taught me that meaningful branding extends beyond aesthetics. By transforming locally sourced botanicals into a cohesive visual identity across physical and digital experiences, I explored how design can foster emotional connections through nature and storytelling.
Letting Nature Become the Canvas
I envision transforming traditional posters into interactive experiences that respond to their natural surroundings. By experimenting with sunlight, shadows, translucent materials, and living botanicals, the posters could evolve with the environment, inviting audiences to slow down, explore, and engage with nature.
