PROJECT OUTLINE
Isla Music Festival is a speculative 6 week design project that reimagines how music, place, and identity can be experienced through a cohesive visual system. Inspired by my connection to Boracay, the festival centers on island rhythms as both sound and feeling.

THE PROBLEM
Isla Music Festival is a concept-driven festival celebrating island rhythms and culture, rooted in my personal connection to Boracay. The festival expands beyond expected genres like reggae to include sounds such as Afrobeats, Amapiano, and other globally influenced island music. The project explores how a visual system can capture movement, warmth, and connection.

THE PROCESS
I began by grounding the project in my personal connection to Boracay, using it as both a cultural and emotional reference point. I researched island music across genres to expand beyond expected sounds and define a broader, more contemporary interpretation of island rhythm. From there, I developed a visual direction inspired by movement, fluidity, and tactility, translating sound into soft, liquid-like forms and gradients. I explored typography, color, and composition to reflect energy, warmth, and flow.
THE OUTCOME
The final outcome is a comprehensive visual system for Isla Music Festival that captures the feeling of island life, joyful, rhythmic, and deeply connected. The identity moves beyond traditional festival branding by emphasizing atmosphere and experience, using fluid visuals and a cohesive system to create a strong, recognizable presence. Ultimately, the project becomes not just a festival concept, but a way of sharing memory, identity, and the spirit of home with a broader audience.
